About the Show

In July 2019, cabaret god and royalty Paulus (aka Paul L Martin) decided to hang up his West End Wendies sequin hosting jacket for the last time and hand the microphone over to a new host(ess). Enter stage right, Debbie Bridge, Musical Theatre/Opera singer, actress, cabaret diva, performing arts coach, wifey, mum of two chihuahuas and now hostess with the mostest pairs of shoes!

Debbie has trained in cabaret under Paul himself, so she was well placed to continue the wonderful work Paulus had done to create a friendly, inclusive and supportive community in the cosy surroundings of Brighton. Debbie had walked up the London West End Wendies’ stairs just a few months ago. She was greeted by friendly faces and Paulus (you’ve seen him on TV right – yes he’s really that scary!) and welcomed into the fold.

The rest, as we say, is history and now Debbie will be the proud regular host of West End Wendies Open Mic Brighton and has a number of exciting events planned to help to continue to grow this wonderful evening. Expect parties, special guests, and guest hosts! Wendies is one big family, that always enjoys new members joining us! At the head of the family sits the West Wendies Team consisting of Debbie, she will be looking to find deputy hosts, a wonderful sound, lighting and venue, plus putting together a rota of uber-talented house pianists who will come and play for the evening – who really are the glue that hold the evening together. We will also be getting together a house band for our party specials, so if you are interested in any of these roles, do drop Debbie a line!

We plan to have West End Wendies venue and start date confirmed for January 2020!

Spread the word, join the fun and come and sing your cares away at West End Wendies Open Mic Brighton!!! Get more info by clicking here!

Miss Givings (Private Event)

Anita Boult

Miss Givings – Debbie Bridge

Debbie Bridge is doing a full performance of Miss Givings for Danny House in Hurstpierpoint.

Date: Monday, October 19th

Venue: Danny House

Time: 7:15-8:15pm

About the Show

“A year in the life of a martyred musical theatre wannabe, Anita Boult.”

Anita’s just moved back home. Not to Mom and Dad’s, you understand, just out of New York and back to Peekskill – and it’s not an admission of defeat; just a strategy for recharging batteries and planning a new assault on Broadway.

Observe, then, as Anita seeks to effect her return to the bright lights, grappling with hostile agents, indifferent casting directors, doubting parents, demanding boyfriends, and worst of all, high school rivals still somehow hogging the local limelight.

Meantime, Anita will treat you to gems of known and lesser known songs from such American song writing legends as S. Barber & L. Bernstein. This show has “elements that remind us of Shirly Maclaine, Maureen Lipman and Barbara Streisand,” as quoted by one viewer

What people are saying…

“Everything – singing & acting were outstanding.”

“Fun way to link the really accessible and contrasting songs a real showcase!”

“Very clear singing, range of vocals, costumes. Very enjoyable, good range of songs and great script.”

“Excellent singing of fantastic songs and great acting”

“Really well put together”

“First class performance.  Refreshing to hear such an outstanding voice!”

Classes

Voice/Meisner Classes – Meisner Workout

Meisner Acting Students

Come and explore Repetition and your voice. This class is for actors who want to express themselves with song, for those who want to work on releasing their spoken/singing voice, for those who perhaps feel restricted or self-conscious when singing and for more experienced singer/actors who want to find greater freedom and expression. In a supportive and constructive environment we will explore doing Repetition into song and song into Repetition; how do they work together,  help to open each other up? Let’s explore with Repetition into song to encourage more spontaneity, impulse and range of expression and vice versa.  Feel free to bring a song with you (will be singing acapella) but this is not a requirement. All abilities and experiences are welcome but participants must have done at least a Meisner Intro.
