West End Wendies has been running very successfully in London for 5 years, under the cabaret god and royalty Paulus (aka Paul L Martin) and now Debbie Bridge is taking on the challenge of bringing this brilliant open mic night to Brighton & Sussex.
“Saucy and always glamorous…surprisingly laid back and incredibly homely.” – Grumpy Gay Critic
Paulus is giving his support and blessing to this new extension of his franchise as well as supporting his new West End Wendies – London hostess Tamsine Kimber. Paulus has decided to hang up his West End Wendies sequin hosting jacket and is passing the batons onto us to bring you some brilliant evenings both in London and Brighton/Sussex.
“Unique Open Mic…the crowd is very cheerful, listenful and welcoming to new faces.” – Go Out of Tune
Enter stage left, Debbie Bridge, Musical Theatre/Opera singer, actress, voice over actor (hosts Voice Over Brighton and Sussex), cabaret diva, performing arts coach, wife of a kiwi, mum of two chihuahuas and now tea-tastic hostess with a love of all things Agatha Christie!
“Even though I never sing, I really felt part of the evening’s frivolities and festivities *****” – London Theatre 1
Debbie has trained in cabaret under Paul himself, so she is well placed to continue the wonderful work Paulus has done to create a friendly, inclusive and supportive community in the cosy surroundings of Brighton & Sussex. Debbie had walked up the London West End Wendies’ stairs. She was greeted by friendly faces and Paulus (you’ve seen him on TV right – nah, he’s really not that scary!) and welcomed into the fold
The rest, as we say, is history and now Debbie will be the proud regular host of West End Wendies Open Mic Brighton & Sussex and has a number of exciting events planned to help to continue to grow this wonderful evening. Expect parties, special guests, and guest hosts! Wendies is one big family, that always enjoys new members joining us!
As this is a new venture in Brighton & Sussex, Debbie is looking to build her West Wendies Brighton & Sussex Team. She is looking to find deputy hosts, wonderful sound and lighting personality, venue, plus putting together a rota of uber-talented house pianists who will come and play for the evening – who really are the glue that hold the evening together.
So, do drop Debbie a line! Especially if you have answers to these questions:
